School Closure

Due to anticipated severe weather associated with Hurricane Delta, all St. John the Baptist Parish Public Schools will be closed tomorrow, Friday October 9th. To ensure the learning continues for our scholars, assignments provided by teachers will be used for extra credit. Due to families evacuating, scholars will be afforded ample time to submit assignments for extra credit (by Oct. 16th).

Red Ribbon Week

We will celebrate Red Ribbon Week by having dress downs for each day. As one of the school fundraisers, we will be selling Dippin Dots for $4.00 starting on Tuesday, October 27.

Return to School Plan

Please see the return to school chart for information about our phased-in approach to bringing more students back into our school. Parents who do not wish to send their children back to school under this new schedule will be able to opt for full-time virtual learning. Please use the link to indicate the learning style you wish for your child. This form must be filled out by October 30.

Virtual Parent/Student Orientation

Virtual Students Only - All virtual students that signed up for virtual before the deadline will be issued a computer and supplies. Those that signed up after the deadline will be issued supplies only.


• MUST report at your child’s assigned time. Only students in that grade level will be given supplies at the designated times.
• MUST WEAR A MASK
• One parent or guardian must attend with the student.

• 8:30-10:00– 8th grade
• 10:30-12:00– 7th grade
• 1:00-2:30- 6th grade

Tuesday, September 1
• 9:30-11:00- 5th grade
• 11:45-1:15 – 4th grade
• 1:30-3:00 – 3rd grade

Wednesday, September 2
• 8:30-10:00 – 2nd grade
• 10:15-11:45 – 1st grade
• 12:30-2:00 - Kindergarten

The School Board has approved the following changes in the dates for the start of school. First day for teachers is Aug. 17. First day for Virtual Learning Program students in grades 1-12 is Aug. 31. First day for in-person/hybrid model students is Sept. 8. First day for preK/Head Start/kindergarten students is Sept. 14.
